I was privileged to be able to attend the launching of the first of two new fireboats for the Fire Department New York on September 11, 2009. The boat being launched is named Three Forty Three - in memory of the 343 firefighters and paramedics who perished in the WTC attacks in 2001. You can find out more about these boats at http://nycfireboat.comThese boats will replace the existing Fireboats which have been in service for over 50 years, most notably in their assistance on 9/11.
